Objectives
The aims of the Degree in Tourism have been drawn up bearing in mind the characteristics of tourism and how it has changed – particularly the rapid change it is experiencing and the demands for quality, competitiveness, sustainability and the increasing internationalisation of the sector. The following teaching aims are of particular importance to the Tourism Degree:-
- to meet current training needs, enabling students to acquire the necessary decision-making skills for today's tourism sector
- to offer essential training at a tertiary level in order to prepare students to specialise in the skills and management capabilities for running companies and institutions in the tourism sector.
- to study the essentials for developing a competitive advantage for tourism products and destinations
- to produce specialists taking into account both the management of individual companies and also the sector as a whole, with particular attention being paid to natural and cultural resources
- to standardise the syllabus in an attempt to avoid an excess of fragmentation as a result of too many study areas
- to make it easier to develop lines of research which include different techniques
In addition to the aforementioned teaching aims, one common objective of all URJC courses is to encourage mobility and in particular to encourage students to study abroad.
